We brought Aker Rouge to New Zealand with one purpose: to slow things down.

A ritual carried across continents

In a world of fast beauty and overflowing routines, this handcrafted clay pot offers something entirely different - intentionality.

Created using age-old Moroccan methods and made with just poppy petals and pomegranate rind, it’s a simple ritual that invites you to pause, connect, and adorn yourself with care.

We wanted to honour that tradition while making it accessible here at home, so we work directly with Moroccan artisans, then dispatch each order from New Zealand with love.

What you hold isn’t just a product - it’s a story passed from one pair of hands to another.

Wandering through the winding alleys of a Moroccan bazaar

We stumbled upon something unexpected. Among the scents of spices and the hum of storytellers, we found delicate clay pots—hand-pressed, sun-dried, and filled with the most mesmerising pigment we’d ever seen. Rich red, warm and alive with history.

Aker Fassi

Women gathered around, brushing their fingers across the surface, dabbing the pigment onto their lips and cheeks in one simple, elegant motion. No mirrors. No fuss. It was beauty in its purest form.

When we asked what it was, they smiled and said: Aker Fassi. Made from just poppy petals and pomegranate rind - two humble ingredients with centuries of tradition behind them.

From Morocco to New Zealand

It felt like a piece of ancient ceremony wrapped in clay and colour - a beauty ritual that honoured softness, strength, and slowness.

We brought Aker Rouge home to New Zealand to share that feeling. To connect you not just with a product, but with a story - a lineage of women who have passed this practice down for generations.

Each pot is still handmade in Morocco by skilled artisans. Each one slightly different. Full of character. Full of soul.

Aker Rouge is our love letter to that moment, that memory, and that magic - and now, it’s yours to hold, too.
